| Mike Castle,owner of On the Rise Bakery,is not a newcomer to the Lake of the Ozarks,nor to his role as restaurateur. A native of Callaway County in central Missouri, Mike spent high-school summers at the Lake of the Ozarks working at restaurants,serving customers and bussing tables at night. During the day he worked in the kitchen soaking up experience. That critical experience determined his future. Summers spent at the Lake sold Mike on expanding his culinary skills. After high school he attended the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, and was one of the youngest chefs to graduate from the program. After earning his diploma he returned to the Lake of the Ozarks to become a sous chef at one of his favorite restaurants, The Blue Heron. Four years later he accepted a job managing the Potted Steer, where he remained for seven years. In 1995 Mike and Cheryl Castle bought On the Rise Bakery. |
